The PPP project to build the Bovanenkovo - Sabetta special use railway line on the Yamal Peninsula. The aim of the project is to develop integrated transport infrastructure in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
The line length of 170 kilometers will connect the region rich in natural resources to the port of Sabetta, opening freight transport routes to the Northern Sea Route, which is the shortest route to Western Europe and Asia. The project envisages that the line will be built by 2019, and will be operated until 2036. After that, the line will become the property of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.
By the end of 2016, the project was awarded ROSINFRA National award in “Best PPP project in the transport sector” category.
